“H for Hamide “ is our new collection that is designed for the 4. Hamide Days, which is organized every year in memory of our mother and honorary founder Hamide Yanç Özçetin (1944-2013). It is envisioned as culture days.
This year we are opening Hamide Days with the print launch of “H for Hamide” a collection that we explore what Hamide means to us and to you. We could not think of a better way to remember our mother. In this collection we invited two upcoming designers, Zine Yolal and Maja Østergaard Nielsen to collaborate with us since we want Hamide brand and the studio to function as a platform as well. The designers were briefed about Hamide’s design approach and life story as well as her tragic death. In addition, they were told about Hamide Design Studio’s start-up story and design values. We also asked them to think about their experience of Hamide. It could have been what they heard, it could have been the products they have seen or own, it could have been their interactions with us and so on. We wanted them to interpret what Hamide means. And finally we wanted their reflections to be presented through an “H”; an “H” for Hamide.
So within few days, we received very interesting and valuable results from Zine, Maja and our lead designer Seda. It was very challenging to select some of these very good designs to be presented and produced but we managed. On the 20th of February, at the opening of Hamide Days we will present you these precious art prints with pleasure at our studio. We sincerely hope to have your company.
