Does Terms of Service Care?

Not much, it seems, according to the audience that visited our exhibition at Southern Sweden Design Days 2024 at Frank Gallery in Malmö.

Between May 23-26, our lead designer and co-founder Seda, staged a meet-cute with the often ignored ‘Terms of Service’. She chose Open AI as her case study and asked the audience to judge for themselves if the Terms of Service cared. Cared for and about what? They could decide but the idea was to explore if it cared for others than the company, like humans and planet.

The exhibition consisted of her video work of mapping a policy ecosystem, ToSsphere; a series of textiles giving some insight into what AI depends on, Open AI’s privacy policy hanging from the ceiling printed on a large textile, and Open AI’s Terms of Service printed on a large textile laid on a table inviting the audience for interaction by highlighting expressions of care.
