the Blouse for the Fine Adult

We are saying goodbye to the 6th Hamide Days with a small digital exhibition presenting Hamide Yanç Özçetin‘s works. This will be the first of a series introducing her work.

Throughout her career Hamide Yanç Özçetin, the honorary founder of Hamide Design Studio, our main inspiration and our mother, designed and handmade a number of exquisite blouses. The blouses with their timeless design details, material choices, and high quality craftsmanships tell us clearly that they are for the ones who can carry such elegant clothing, so, we recognize them as “the blouses for the fine adults”.

Fine pleats, oversized bows, fluffy ruffles are repetitive design decisions we see in her work. These elements are introduced to the blouse always in relation to the fabric at hand; either as a reference to its pattern with effortless application of figure ground principle or to its material, which is often silk. In the end, the work she creates sometimes stands out with its pure minimalist look visible in every little detail and sometimes surprises us by its ability to embody a minimalist and maximalist attitude at the same time.

We adore these blouses. They not only represent Hamide to us but also encourage us to be decent adults. Each time we encounter them we imagine wearing them, standing straight, moving elegantly and doing anything in a decent way without any clumsiness or sloppiness. We also admire how they have multiple identities.  They are perfect for professional occasions, for a cocktail and also on jeans.
